Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m a full-time happy dad to a wildly curious little girl, a daytime scientist with a PhD, and a nighttime explorer of everything else: dishes, books, brainwaves, bedtime stories, and the occasional engineering diagram drawn in crayon.

If you’re curious about the world, science and surprising facts, this place is for you.

If you’re a parent who wants to raise curious kids, but feels like you're constantly juggling too many tabs (literal and mental), this space is for you.

What is Playful Brains?

Playful Brains lives at the intersection of parenting, science, and wonder. It’s where we take big ideas from science, engineering, and education, and turn them into small moments of connection with our kids.

Think of this newsletter as your:

  • Curiosity curator 🔬

  • Parenting sidekick 🎒

  • Science explainer 📚

  • Activity guide 🎨

  • Brain buddy 🧠

Whether you're helping your 4-year-old discover shadows, figuring out how to explain evolution with sock puppets, or just trying to survive dinner with fewer meltdowns and more “aha!” moments, I've got your back.

Why I started this

Because parenting is full of questions like:

  • “What do I do when my kid asks why 37 times in a row?”

  • “How do I better connect with my kids?”

  • “How can I make the zoo visit more fun? Any fun facts about giraffe?”

  • “It’s the weekend again, what should I do with my kids?”

And I believe it’s worth searching for the answers, archiving them and sharing them with you.

What you'll get as a subscriber

  • Time-saving research curation. You’re busy. I’ll dig through the science, psychology, parenting books, and activity blogs, and hand you only the gold nuggets.

  • Surprising facts. From giraffe blood pressure to the engineering of spider silk, each fact is a bridge for conversations between you and your child.

  • Hands-on science & play activities. Fun, doable things to try with your kids, designed for short attention spans and long-lasting memories.

  • Parenting tips. Real advice on everything from meltdowns to math learning, rooted in child development and educational psychology.

  • A sense of community. You’re not parenting alone. Let's share what works, what doesn’t, and what’s worth laughing about.

Let's connect, learn, and grow together

Parenting isn’t a straight path. It’s an experiment in progress. Through Playful Brains, I hope we can share what we’re discovering along the way. The science. The wonder. The messy, magical middle of it all.

So if you’re ready to raise curious kids and maybe rediscover your own inner child while you’re at it, subscribe and join us.
